A must-see on any visit to the capital, the impressive National War Memorial is a great place to learn about our own military history and sacrifice.

By visiting The National War Memorial you will be able to:

The Memorial’s curatorial staff offer interesting, informative and pupil-friendly presentations on either the history of the Memorial and Tomb, or on specific study subjects.  If you can, let us know in advance of your requirements.

We have excellent resource websites such as www.nzhistory.net  where ‘The Classroom’ has information on Levels 1,2,3 History and Social Studies Levels 4, 5.  Check also the ‘Teachers’ Toolbox.’

Another site is www.anzac.govt.nz where you can find a lot of information on Gallipoli and on what Anzac Day means to modern day New Zealand.
